TROOPS:The troops of the battle of Gettysburg, as well as the entire civil war, were made upof common men. It wasn t a battle of gentlemen. So the north found the need to train men and equip them and form a largeenough of a fighting force from its inexperienced volunteers and they had to findefficient military leadership. What the South lacked in numbers, it made up for inmilitary skill and experience. The south also had a strong military and a talentedgroup of military minds. THE BATTLE:

The battle lasted 3 days for a few reasons. First, there was no fighting at nightbecause it was night and no one could see the other troops. Second, the troops hadto march great distances to get to points of battle, and third battle was fierce andtook a lot out of the men so the needed time to rest and recuperate.
